Chapter III · of four
What transcends us
What sustains us when everything falls silent?
About this chapter
In every corner of the world, human beings sometimes pause to listen to something that has neither a precise form nor a precise name, yet seems to pulse at the very heart of existence. An invisible thread connects the gesture of someone lighting a candle, a gaze raised in silence, a body bowing before the sacred, a voice in prayer, or the intimate act of giving thanks without words.
Geography and language do not matter. Every culture has found its own way of approaching the invisible, of recognizing its smallness before the immense, and of expressing what lies beyond understanding. In those moments, fragile and absolute, human beings seem to remember that they are part of something vaster and older than their own history.
The photographs in this chapter do not seek to explain faith or offer definitive answers. They approach its gestures, symbols and silences with respect. Within them echoes the same question, voiced in different accents: what sustains us when everything falls silent?
